Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh, died earlier in 2022, but his work's legacy has been etched into the history books. Translated from Japanese, "Yu-Gi-Oh," which translates to "Game King," was originally published as a horror manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1996, to a lukewarm reception. Characters in the original manga could play anything from Russian roulette to chess, but when Takahashi introduced a card game called "Duel Monsters," the concept was snapped up by maker Konami, a commercial game was born (followed by an animated series in 2000).
