Hugh Jackman Confirms Deadpool 3's Wolverine Timeline
Given his upcoming appearance as a mutant with vajra claws, Hugh Jackman confirmed that Deadpool 3's Wolverine timeline takes place before Logan.
Before production begins on Sean Levy and Ryan Reynolds' upcoming Marvel Studios film, Hugh Jackman reveals Deadpool 3's Wolverine timeline, specifically its relationship with Logan. In 2017, Jackman played Wolverine in Fox's X-Men series via James Mangold's Logan. However, Disney completed its acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019, with Marvel Studios regaining access to the X-Men, Fantastic Four and all their tie-in characters from Fox. Yet despite the ongoing interest, Jackman insists he's done with the role. It makes sense considering how Logan beautifully writes off the iconic mutant when he saves X-23/Laura.

Still, there are questions about how Wolverine's upcoming MCU outing will affect the events of Logan, including whether it will undo the mutant's death. However, in a new interview with the Empire Movies podcast, Jackman reveals that Deadpool 3's Wolverine The timeline effectively solves the mystery. While the cast and anyone involved with the project couldn't discuss spoilers, Jackman shared some information to give the public an idea of what to expect from his role in the trilogy. He revealed that Wolverine will be angrier than ever in Deadpool 3. He doesn't get into the details of why Wolverine has become more cranky, but it could have something to do with the fact that he's forced to team up with Deadpool, who can be annoying.
"He was actually really cool about it. I did tell him that it took place before our movie, so I wasn’t gonna screw with the claws popping out of the grave. So he was relieved by that, and he totally got it. He thought it was a good idea. None of us wanted to screw with that. I was really proud of that movie and what we did, and it felt perfect. And actually, for five years, I was really, honestly, I can tell you, I was kind of a hard done, I was like, this was it. It was August 14, I remember driving and it just came to me like that. I just thought this would be so much fun. I’ll probably have more fun on that movie than anything I’ve ever done...This year. And August 13, I was like, ‘I’m never playing that part again, I promise you.’"
What To Expect From Deadpool 3’s Wolverine
In another interview, Levi also made fun of Wolverine's role in Deadpool 3, noting the incredible chemistry between Reynolds and Jackman. That led to new ideas for the screenplay, which he says will be fun for audiences when the movie finally hits theaters. As a partnership that has taken years to build, it was very exciting to hear the latest news from Levy and Jackman.
